Load and fire
I usually start with bone dry reclaim clay and add mason stains or oxides. I do not have a specific recipe that I follow though depending on the color it usually ranges from 2%-15%. I can not stress enough the importance of researching the additives you use as many oxides and stains are heavy metals and can be dangerous to expose your self to for a prolonged period of time both through breathing them and through your skin. I then recycle the clay as I would any other clay. I wedge each individual color as thoroughly as I can and then wedge different colors together as little as possible. I think that larger patches of individual colors look best so the less you do to it the better. Some pieces are hand built from slabs and others are made on the wheel. The last thing I like to do is use the sharp edge of a metal rib to remove all the slip that is on the surface to get a clean line where two colors meet.

A piece by my cousin ניר (Nir). It’s more than half as tall as me.

One last piece by my uncle Chuckie from our visit to אורות today.

A self portrait by uncle Chuckie in his sculpture garden at אורות

One of the major influences on my art, my great uncle Chuckie, at the door to the gallery named after his daughter Michal on מושב אורות.

Jerusalem for a few days.

Messing with slip in the studio today.
